WE LOVE HEARING FROM YOU AFTER YOUR

SAVANNAH HERITAGE TOUR.

LEAVE US A COMMENT TO TELL US ABOUT YOUR ADVENTURE, AND THANKS!

Your visit to Savannah is not complete without a tour of the beautiful Bonaventure Cemetery.

It is one of the most perfect tours Savannah has to offer. Established in 1849, Bonaventure has been described as a natural garden with live oak trees draped with Spanish moss and thousands of azaleas. Standing within this "garden" are beautiful sculptures of grieving ladies, ornately carved crypts, obelisks and statue of Gracie Watson.

John Muir; founder of the Sierra Club, spent six days at Bonaventure and wrote "the rippling of living water, the song of birds, the joyous confidence of flowers, the calm undisturbed grandeur of the oaks, mark this place of graves as one of the Lord's most favored abodes of life and light."

We will drive the 100-acre cemetery, walk along the bluff of the Wilmington River and visit the grave sites of famous lyricist, Johnny Mercer; poet, Conrad Aiken and other famous Georgians. Savannah Heritage Tours will offer you plenty of opportunities to step off the bus for photos during the driving part of the tour and of course, we will walk in the older section of the cemetery and along the bluff overlooking the Wilmington River.

I am a life-time member of the Bonaventure Historical Society.
